Small Business Lighting Program FAQs
How long does the assessment take?
Typically less than a half an hour, depending on the size of the facility.
How long does the installation take?
Typically 2-3 hours, depending on the size of the facility. We make every effort not to disrupt your daily operations.
When can the assessment be performed?
Typically Monday to Friday, beginning at 8:00 am and ending no later than 4:00 pm. If you are not available during these hours, we will make every effort to arrange for a convenient time.
Who will benefit most from the SBL program?
Small businesses with longer operating hours and lots of twist-in bulbs (such as pot lights) that can be replaced with LEDs.
Why is there a co-pay component to the program now?
The SBL program is designed to benefit local businesses yet ensure prudent spending of rate-payer dollars. Operating hours, the savings potential of the upgrades, and upgrade costs are now factored into the program. If equipment is only rarely used, the program covers significantly less of the cost. Likewise, if equipment is used frequently, more (or in some cases all) of the cost is covered.
Why would a local business want to participate in the co-pay portion rather than use their own contractor?
The co-pay part of the program offers significant discounts for customers, and the installation is done by a certified contractor who has been chosen because their pricing is low, their service quality record is high, and they have the required certifications, training, and insurance.
Why are you helping customers reduce their energy use?
The Small Business Lighting program is just one way to support Ontario’s Save on Energy plan to provide long-term, reliable and affordable power. It’s less expensive to save electricity than to generate it.
